Robert Allman
Visual EffectsRobert Allman is a visual effects supervisor at Framestore, based in London. He earned an MA in Computer Animation from London Guildhall in 1997. He began his career immediately afterwards by joining Mill Film. In those early years, he contributed to blockbuster films such asĀ GladiatorĀ (2000),Ā Lara Croft: Tomb RaiderĀ (2001) and the early entries in the Harry Potter franchise.
After gaining experience in technical and CG roles, he joined Framestore as a Technical Director. There, he re-entered the Harry Potter world, working onĀ Harry Potter and the Prisoner of AzkabanĀ (2004) and leading CG sequences onĀ Harry Potter and the Goblet of FireĀ (2005). He later moved to Prime Focus, where he became CG Supervisor on films such asĀ Mirror MirrorĀ (2012) andĀ PoltergeistĀ (2015), before returning to Framestore.
At Framestore, he played a key role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, working as CG Supervisor onĀ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2Ā (2017),Ā Avengers: Infinity WarĀ (2018) andĀ Avengers: EndgameĀ (2019). His early pre-production work onĀ Avengers: EndgameĀ was especially notable for helping to develop the machine-learning system used to bring the āSmart Hulkā character to life. He was promoted to VFX Supervisor at Framestore for Doctor DolittleĀ (2020),Ā The Little MermaidĀ (2023),Ā WonkaĀ (2023),Ā Deadpool & WolverineĀ (2024), and The Fantastic Four: First StepsĀ (2025).
ForĀ Avengers: EndgameĀ (2019), he was nominated for a Visual Effects Society Award for Outstanding Animated Character in a Photoreal Feature for āSmart Hulkā, and forĀ Harry Potter and the Goblet of FireĀ (2005), he was nominated for Outstanding Created Environment in a Live Action Motion Picture for the Black Lake environment.
