Denis Shabaev
DirectingDirector. Born in Moscow in 1980. From 2001–2004 studied at the Film Institute VGIK, class of direction of documentary films of I. Geleyn. Then engaged in business in cinema and other areas. In 2010 made his first film, “Old Tiflis Fairy Tales”, which received a special prize in the competition Profession: Reporter.
In 2013 graduated from the School of Documentary Film and Theatre of Marina Razbezhkina and Mikhail Ugarov. His second work as director was the 52-minute documentary “Together” (2014), which won the Laurel Branch at ArtDokFest, the first prize for the best non- fiction film at the St Anna festival, and the main prize at DOCUDAYS (Ukraine). His first feature film, “Not My Job” (2015), won the prize for Best Debut and a Diploma from the Guild of Film Critics and Scholars at Kinotavr 2016, the jury prize at Visions Du Reel in Nyon (Switzerland), and two prizes at the GoEast festival in Wiesbaden (Germany). “Mira” is his second feature film.
