Desulfitobacterium chlororespirans adalah spesies bakteri pembentuk-spora, anaerob, dan gram-positif. Tipenya adalah Co23 (= ATCC 700175 = DSM 11544), yang tumbuh dengan menggabungkan oksidasi laktat menjadi deklorinasi reduktif 3-kloro-4-hidroksibenzoat.[1]
