Bibcode adalah sebuah pengidentifikasi yang digunakan dalam sejumlah sistem data astronomi untuk menentukan referensi literatur. Bibcode dikembangkan untuk digunakan dalam SIMBAD dan NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database (NED), tetapi kini digunakan secara meluas, misalnya saja pada Astrophysics Data System NASA.[1][2]

Format

Kode ini memiliki panjang tetap sebanyak 19 karakter dengan format:

TTTTJJJJJVVVVMHHHHA

di mana:

  • TTTT adalah empat digit tahun referensi tersebut.
  • JJJJJ adalah kode singkatan untuk jurnal di mana referensi tersebut diterbitkan, misalnya ApJ untuk Astrophysical Journal.
  • VVVV adalah nomor volume.
  • M adalah jenis media jurnal, misalnya L untuk surat (letters), dan E untuk media elektronik.
  • HHHH adalah nomor halaman pertama di mana referensi tersebut ditulis.
  • A adalah alfabet pertama dari nama keluarga penulis pertama.

Tanda titik (.) digunakan untuk memenuhi bidang yang tidak terpakai dan untuk menggeser bidang sehingga tercapai panjang yang sama jika kode terlalu pendek. Titik diberikan di sebelah kanan untuk kode publikasi dan di sebelah kiri untuk nomor volume dan nomor halaman.[1][2]
