Meliphaga atau cucak-pantai adalah genus burung dalam famili pemakan madu Meliphagidae.
Genus ini diperkenalkan oleh seniman Inggris John Lewin pada tahun 1808. [1] Nama Meliphaga menggabungkan bahasa Yunani Kuno meli yang berarti "madu" dan phagos yang berarti makan. [2] Jenis spesiesnya adalah pemakan madu Lewin ( Meliphaga lewinii ). [3] [4]
Genus ini mengandungi tiga spesies: [5]
- Cucak-pantai aru ( Meliphaga aruensis )
- Cucak-pantai totol-kuning ( Meliphaga notata )
- Cucak-pantai lewin ( Meliphaga lewinii )
Genus ini sebelumnya mencakup spesies tambahan. Ketika studi filogenetik molekuler menemukan bahwa Meliphaga mengandung dua klade yang berbeda, genus tersebut terpecah dan sebagian besar spesies dipindahkan ke genus Microptilotis yang dibangkitkan sehingga hanya menyisakan tiga spesies di Meliphaga.
