Keengganan bersekolah adalah tindakan anak untuk tidak menghadiri atau tidak bisa tetap berada di kelas selama sehari penuh.[1] Ketidakhadiran ini dilakukan secara mandiri, atas kemauan anak. Perilaku ini berbeda dengan ketidakhadiran yang diluar keinginan anak, seperti orang tua yang melarangnya, atau karena kondisi finansial yang buruk.[2][3] Keengganan bersekolah ditandai dengan ketidaknyamanan atau tekanan saat berada di sekolahan.[4]

Perilaku ini sulit ditentukan karena memiliki motif yang berbeda-beda.[5][4] Akademisi membuat perkiraan akan penolakan sekolah terjadi pada 1-2% total populasi dan dari 5-15% remaja yang dirujuk ke klinik.[6][5][7]
