Peradaban Mikenai (atau Yunani Mikenai) adalah tahap terakhir Zaman Perunggu di Yunani Kuno, yang mencakup masa sekitar tahun 1750 hingga 1050 SM.[1] Mikenai diketahui pertama kali mewakili Peradaban Yunani di daratan utama Yunani yang ditandai dengan negara-negara istana, perkotaan, seni, dan aksara yang khas.[2][3] Masyarakat Mikenai merupakan bangsa Indo-Eropa yang menjalin hubungan dengan Peradaban Minoa di Kreta dan kebudayaan pesisir Laut Tengah lainnya untuk mengembangkan jalur perdagangan yang lebih canggih.[4] Pusat kekuasaan lain yang muncul termasuk Pylos, Tiryns, Midea di Peloponnesos, Orkhomenos, Thiva, Athena, dan Lolkos. Permukiman yang dipengaruhi Mikenai juga muncul di Epirus,[5][6] Makedonia,[7][8] kepulauan di Laut Aegea,[9] pesisir barat daya Anatolia,[9] Syam,[10] Siprus,[11] dan Semenanjung Italia.[12]
Masyarakat Mikenai memperkenalkan beberapa penemuan dan reka cipta di bidang teknik, arsitektur, dan peralatan militer, sementara perdagangan di daerah pesisir Laut Tengah yang luas sangat penting bagi perekonomian Mikenai. Aksara silabis Mikenai, yang disebut sebagai Linear B merupakan bukti tertulis bahasa Yunani tertua yang diketahui, dan bukti tertulis bahasa Indo-Eropa tertua kedua setelah aksara paku Het (untuk menulis bahasa Het). Kepercayaan masyarakat Mikenai menunjukkan beberapa dewa yang juga dapat ditemukan dalam kisah Dodekatheon. Yunani Mikenai didominasi oleh masyarakat prajurit kelas atas dan terdiri dari jaringan negara-negara yang berpusat pada istana yang mengembangkan sistem hierarkis, politik, sosial, dan ekonomi yang sangat kaku. Penguasa masyarakat Mikenai dikenal memakai gelar wanaks.
Peradaban Mikenai binasa yang ditandai dengan Keruntuhan Zaman Perunggu Akhir di pesisir Laut Tengah bagian timur, sehingga dimulainya Zaman Kegelapan Yunani, masa peralihan tanpa adanya catatan dan bukti tertulis lainnya yang mengarah ke Yunani Arkais di mana terjadi pergeseran besar-besaran dari bentuk tatanan sosial-ekonomi yang sangat desentralisasi (ditandai dengan penggunaan besi secara umum).[13] Berbagai teori telah diajukan untuk menduga penyebab runtuhnya peradaban ini, di antaranya Invasi Doria atau serangan-serangan oleh "bangsa Laut". Teori tambahan seperti bencana alam dan perubahan iklim juga telah diusulkan. Zaman Mikenai menjadi latar sejarah dari banyak kesusastraan dan mitologi Yunani, termasuk Siklus Epik Troya.[14]

suntingZaman Perunggu di daerah Yunani umumnya diistilahkan sebagai "Periode Helladic" oleh para arkeolog modern, dinamai dari kata Helas, nama Yunani dalam bahasa Yunani. Periode ini dibagi menjadi tiga sub-periode: Heladik Awal (k. 3200โ2000 SM)[15] adalah masa kemakmuran dengan penggunaan logam dan pertumbuhan teknologi, ekonomi, dan perkumpulan masyarakat. Heladik Tengah (k. 2000โ1700/1675 BC[1]) menghadapi laju perkembangan yang lebih lambat, serta evolusi tempat tinggal berjenis megaron dan pemakaman kuburan kist.[3] Fase terakhir Heladik Tengah, Heladik Pertengahan III (k. 1750โ1675 SM), bersama dengan periode Heladik Akhir (k. 1700/1675โ1050 BC) kira-kira bertepatan dengan munculnya Peradaban Mikenai.[1]
Periode Heladik Akhir dibagi lagi menjadi Heladik Akhir I dan Heladik Akhir II, keduanya bertepatan dengan fase pertengahan Peradaban Mikenai (k. 1700/1675โ1420 SM), dan Heladik III (k. 1420โ1050 SM), periode perluasan, dan kemunduran peradaban Mikenai.[1] Periode peralihan dari Zaman Perunggu ke Zaman Besi di Yunani dikenal sebagai Sub-Mikenai (k. 1050โ1000 SM).[3]
Berdasarkan penelitian terbaru, Alex Knodell (2021) mempertimbangkan awal pendudukan masyarakat Mikenai di Peloponnesos pada periode Heladik Pertengahan III (k. 1750โ1675 BC), dan membagi seluruh masa Peradaban Mikenai menjadi tiga periode kebudayaan: Mikenai Awal (k. 1750โ1400 SM), Perunggu Istana (c. 1400โ1200 BC), dan Pasca-Perunggu Istana (k. 1200โ1050 BC).[1]

suntingPenguraian aksara Linear B Mikenai, sebuah sistem tulisan yang diadaptasi untuk penggunaan bahasa Yunani pada Zaman Perunggu akhir,[16] menunjukkan kesinambungan bahasa Yunani dari milenium kedua SM hingga abad kedelapan SM, ketika alfabet yang diturunkan dari abjad Fenisia baru muncul.[17] Selain itu, terungkap bahwa pembawa budaya Mikenai secara genetika terhubung dengan penduduk yang tinggal di Semenanjung Yunani setelah akhir periode budaya ini.[18] Terakhir, penguraian tersebut menandai munculnya suatu bahasa Indo-Eropa di wilayah Aegean berbeda dengan bahasa sebelumnya yang tidak terkait yang digunakan di wilayah yang berdekatan.[19] Berbagai istilah kolektif untuk penduduk Mikenai digunakan oleh Homeros dalam Ilias mengacu pada Perang Troya.[20]

Homeros secara bergantian menggunakan etnonim Akhaia, Danaya, dan Argive untuk menyebut para pengepung,[20] dan nama-nama ini tampaknya diturunkan sejak digunakan hingga saat Homer menerapkannya sebagai istilah kolektif dalam Ilias.[21] Ada rujukan terisolasi untuk a-ka-wi-ja-de dalam catatan Linear B di Knossos, Kreta yang ditulis sekitar tahun 1400 SM, yang mungkin mengacu pada negara Mikenai (Akhaia) di daratan utama Yunani.[22]
Catatan Mesir Kuno menyebutkan T(D)-n-j atau Danaya (Tanaju) untuk pertama kalinya pada tahun 1437 SM, selama pemerintahan Firaun Thutmosis III (memerintah 1479โ1425 SM). Daratan ini secara geografis ditetapkan dalam sebuah prasasti dari masa pemerintahan Amenhotep III (memerintah k. 1390โ1352 SM), di mana disebutkan sejumlah kota Danaya, yang meliputi sebagian besar daratan utama Yunani bagian selatan.[23] Di antaranya, kota-kota seperti Mikenai, Nauplion, dan Thebes telah dikenal dengan pasti. Dalam catatan resmi kerajaan Zaman Perunggu lainnya, yaitu Het di Anatolia, berbagai rujukan dari k. 1400 hingga 1220 SM menyebutkan sebuah negara bernama Ahhiyawa.[25][26] Keilmuan terbaru, berdasarkan bukti tertulis, penafsiran baru dari prasasti Het, dan peninjauan terbaru dari bukti arkeologi tentang kontak Mikenai-Anatolia selama periode tersebut, menyimpulkan bahwa istilah Ahhiyawa pasti telah digunakan untuk mengacu pada dunia Mikenai (tanah Akhaia), atau setidaknya sebagian darinya.[27][28] Istilah tersebut mungkin juga memiliki konotasi yang lebih luas dalam beberapa naskah, mungkin mengacu pada semua wilayah yang dihuni oleh bangsa Mikenai atau wilayah di bawah kendali politik Mikenai secara langsung.[25] Etnonim serupa lainnya, Ekwesh, pada abad ke-12 SM, prasasti-prasasti Mesir umumnya diidentikkan dengan Ahhiyawa.
