Bill Medley dan Bobby Hatfield berada di kelompok musik yang berbeda sebelum mereka bertemu – Hatfield berada di sebuah kelompok musik dari Anaheim yang disebut Variations, dan Medley di sebuah kelompok musik dari Santa Ana yang disebut The Paramours.[6] Barry Rillera, seorang anggota band milik Medley yang juga berada di kelompok musik milik Hatfield, menyarankan Hatfield dan Medley untuk saling menonton pertunjukan dan tampil bersama.[7] Kemudian, selepas seorang anggota The Paramours keluar pada tahun 1962, Hatfield dan Medley bergabung dan mendirikan The Paramours yang baru, yang meliputi Johnny Wimber (salah satu pendiri Vineyard Movement). "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" dan "Unchained Melody"

Bubar dan reuni

Duet musik ini bubar pada bulan Februari 1968, pembubaran yang akan berlangsung selama lebih dari enam tahun, apabila Medley keluar untuk mengejar sebuah karier solo.[31] Hatfield bekerja sama dengan Jimmy Walker (dari The Knickerbockers) menggunakan nama The Righteous Brothers lewat perusahaan MGM Records, sementara Medley merekam beberapa rekaman-rekaman solo lewat beberapa perusahaan rekaman. Kematian Bobby Hatfield

Bobby Hatfield ditemukan wafat di kamar hotelnya di Kalamazoo, Michigan, pada tanggal 5 November 2003, sesaat sebelum dia dijadwalkan tampil di sebuah konser bersama Bill Medley di Miller Auditorium, Universitas Western Michigan.[45] Laporan otopsi mengaitkan kematian Hatfield dengan henti jantung. Bill Medley masih tampil sebagai seorang seniman utama untuk beberapa waktu selepas kematian Hatfield, kadang-kadang bernyanyi dengan sebuah proyeksi layar dari rekaman film lama dari Hatfield.[46]
