'Kairosoft' (Jepang: ใซใคใญใฝใใ, Hepburn: Kairosofuto) adalah pengembang gim video asal Jepang yang berbasis di Tokyo, Jepang. Perusahaan ini telah menciptakan berbagai gim simulasi untuk ponsel, PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, serta konsol Xbox. Didirikan pada tahun 1996, perusahaan ini mengembangkan sejumlah gim seluler untuk pasar Jepang dan kemudian meraih kesuksesan besar melalui proses porting ke sistem operasi iOS dan Android modern.[1] Perusahaan ini juga menempati peringkat ke-30 dalam daftar โtop 50 developers of 2012โ yang disusun oleh Pocket Gamer.[2]
Sejarah
suntingKairosoft didirikan sebagai pengembang game dลjin (independen) pada tahun 1996, dan saat ini berlokasi di distrik Nishi-Shinjuku, Tokyo, Jepang, dengan jumlah karyawan sekitar sembilan orang. Pada awalnya, perusahaan ini mengembangkan gim simulasi untuk platform Windows. Gim pertama mereka dirilis pada tahun 1996 dengan tema simulasi toko buku bekas, diikuti oleh gim Game Dev Story versi awal yang dirilis pada 1997, serta sekuelnya pada tahun 2001.[3] Pada tahun 2001, Kairosoft beralih ke pengembangan gim simulasi untuk pasar ponsel Jepang, yang pada saat itu lebih maju dibandingkan pasar di Amerika Serikat.[1][4] Perusahaan ini kemudian resmi diinkorporasi pada September 2007, dan meluncurkan situs web baru pada 4 November 2008.
Dengan dirilisnya Game Dev Story untuk iOS dan Android pada tahun 2010, Kairosoft meraih kesuksesan besar, bahkan berhasil masuk sepuluh besar penjualan aplikasi iPhone pada minggu pertamanya.[5] Setelah itu, Kairosoft terus melakukan porting gim-gim yang sebelumnya mereka kembangkan di platform lain ke perangkat mobile. Pocket Gamer menempatkan Kairosoft pada peringkat ke-30 dalam daftar โtop 50 developers of 2012โ, serta menyebut gim-gim mereka sebagai โsebuah genre tersendiriโ, meskipun tetap mencatat bahwa karya-karya tersebut masih tergolong ceruk (niche) di pasar.[2]
